If you want to use your mechanical aptitude and have a high interest in precision work, consider our Precision Machine program. The skills taught in this program will prepare you for some of the most in-demand careers with a good salary in northeast Indiana.
Location
Precision Machining meets at the Keith Busse, Inc, Steel Dynamics Technology Center at Ivy Tech on Saint Joe Road.

* Please Note: The above program is a year-long and meets Next Level Programs of Study requirements. There is an opportunity for a second year, capstone course within each program as well.
COLLEGE CREDIT & CERTIFICATIONS
By participating in this program, students can earn NIMS certifications and even a Technical certificate from Ivy Tech.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Precision Machining
Through this program, students will learn precision machining processes used in industrial safety, terminology, tools, machine tools, measurement, and layouts. Students will become familiar with setup and operation of power saw, drill presses, lathes, milling machines, grinders, and an introduction to CNC machines. Also, students will have work on CNCs setup/operation/programming. Classroom activities will concentrate on precision setup and inspection work as well as machine shop calculations. Students will develop skills in advanced machining and measuring parts involving tighter tolerances and geometry that is more complex. A continued focus on safety will also be included.
